A modified piston for a reciprocating engine, the piston having a piston face that comprises a plurality of radially-oriented grooves. Each groove comprises a distal end proximate a periphery of the piston face and a proximal end proximate a center of the piston race. The width of the distal end of each groove is greater than the width of the proximal, end of the groove. The depth of the distal end of each groove is greater than, the depth of the proximal end of the groove. The proximal end of each groove terminates in a point. |
