Provided are a light receiving and emitting element and a light receiving and emitting device that are capable of being readily produced and of highly sensitive detection. The light receiving and emitting element has a configuration wherein: a second organic photoelectric conversion section having a different spectral sensitivity to a first organic photoelectric conversion section is provided upon the first organic photoelectric conversion section; either the first organic photoelectric conversion section or the second organic photoelectric conversion section is caused to function as a light-receiving section; and the other is caused to function as a light-emitting section. This light receiving and emitting element is mounted and used as a light receiving and emitting device.
