The method involves emitting signals respectively through emission elements of a mobile communicating object (Tx), and receiving the emitted signals respectively through reception elements of fixed receivers (Rx1, RX2). Data is extracted from the received signals. Position of the object and points (A-D) in the reference is determined from the extracted data independent of orientation of the emission elements. The data relates to angles between arrival directions (alpha1-alpha4) of paths respectively on the receivers and a reference direction of a fixed reference of an environment. An independent claim is also included for a system for locating a mobile communicating object.
