A digital broadcasting receiver and a method for searching the recorded stream automatically are provided to offer an EPG about the recorded stream to a user, thereby recognizing program information included into the recorded stream easily and searching automatically and reproducing a desired program. A tuner(110) tunes a broadcasting signal and transfers the tuned broadcasting signal to a demultiplexer(120), and the signal is demultiplexted in an image stream, a voice stream and a data stream and then those streams is provided to a data decoding unit(130). A storage unit(160) stores a PSIP(Program And System Information Protocol) and the image and voice streams. A user interface(170) provides an EPG(Electronic Program Guide) about the image and voice streams. A control unit(150) controls the image and voice streams to be reproduced, extracts the PSIP to generate the EPG, and controls the EPG to be displayed in the user interface unit.
