The present invention relates to a light guide plate having great light efficiency and a smaller thickness, and a backlight unit having the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, disclosed is the light guide plate which comprises: an upper layer composed of the material including different refractive indexes to the light from a first polarizing light and a second polarizing light respectively, and having a first boundary surface; and a bottom layer composed of the material including same refractive indexes to the light from a first polarizing light and a second polarizing light respectively, arranged closely to a second boundary surface of the upper layer that faces the first boundary surface and having a third boundary surface facing the second boundary surface.
