<p>An apparatus for stripping a substantially pure electroplated starter sheet from a primary flat plate starter cathode is provided. It comprises a rectangular frame having at least suction cups mounted below the top region thereof, and facing in a direction away from the front of the rectangular frame. A robotic arm is mounted at the rear of the rectangular frame, and is adapted to move the frame forward and rearwardly, and to pivot the frame around horizontal and vertical pivot axes. Upon successive forward movement and pivoting movement of the frame, a substantially pure electroplated starter sheet may be stripped from a primary flat plate starter cathode. Methods for stripping starter sheets from starter cathodes using the apparatus are taught.</p> |
