The method involves receiving a printing form end in a wedging and clamping unit (11) consisting of sub elements. Positions of the sub-elements are brought to change a geometry of a printing plate by an adjusting unit in axial direction and circumferential direction. A geometry of a transfer cylinder (6) and/or a pressure cylinder (5) is cleaned during change in the geometry of the printing plate. A printing form cylinder (7) is driven by an auxiliary drive or single or direct drive independent of the transfer cylinder and the pressure cylinder.
