<p>A method for preparing a heavy metal copper sulphide sorbent comprises mixing a particulate copper compound, such as copper carbonate, copper hydroxide or copper oxide, particulate sulphur, a support, such as alumina, titania, zirconia, silica or aluminosilicate and at least one binder, such as cement or clay; shaping the mixture, and drying to form a dried sorbent precursor, and heating the precursor at 100-440oC under inert gas to form copper sulphide sorbent. Also disclosed is use of the sorbent for removing heavy metal from a fluid stream, such as a natural gas.</p> |
