[Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A universal joint comprises roller bearings 37 running in raceways carried by the stud 11 and a spherical member 24 tiltably mounted in the housing 10. The stud carries a flange 30 supporting the rollers against downward movement. The rollers are carried by a cage 38 with bent-over ends 41 to prevent displacement. The raceways for the rollers 37 and the spherical surface 16 converge towards the end of the stud 11 and the parts are pressed together in this direction by a spring 21. |
