Circulation of the atmosphere in the pre-heating and cooling zones of tunnel furnaces with counter-current atmosphere circulation is effected by means of transverse rows of grps. of cyclone nozzles. Pref. the cyclone action is obtd. by the co-influence of streams of gas passed through pipes set at an angle relative to each other. The system is employed in ceramic and heat treatment furnaces at the heating-up and cooling ends, ensuring uniform temp. and gas over the entire furnace cross section.
