A determining unit (31) determines an image region of a foreign material, said image region being in a picked up image generated by means of an image pickup unit (22) using an image pickup optical system (21). On the basis of determination results, a setting unit (32) sets pressure, jetting time, and jetting direction of air to be jetted to the foreign material, and also a jetting pattern formed by combining the pressure, jetting time, and jetting direction. A foreign material removing unit (33) adjusts the air jetting by means of an air jetting adjusting unit (331) on the basis of the settings made by means of the setting unit (32), and the foreign material removing unit jets the air to the image pickup optical system (21) from the air jetting unit (332), and removes the foreign material adhered to the image pickup optical system (21). Since the air is jetted corresponding to the adhering conditions of the foreign material, the foreign material adhered to the image pickup optical system can be optimally removed. |
