PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy of region division when dividing regions of a principal object and the other background within an image.SOLUTION: When a specific pixel value having a high frequency value (occurrence frequency) on a histogram 207 above a rectangular frame has a high frequency value on a histogram 208 outside the rectangular frame and a lower frequency value on a histogram 209 in the rectangular frame, histogram updating means 204 updates, with respect to the specific pixel value, a frequency value in a second histogram 206 showing likelihood to be a background, which is used as an energy function for region division in region division means 201, so that this frequency value is increased relative to a frequency value on a first histogram 205 showing likelihood to be a principal object. A principal object region and a background region can be more distinctly divided by using the specific pixel value as a reference. |
