PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent destruction of a control circuit by avoiding discharge of a high-voltage charge such as static electricity from a metal casing in which a thermosensitive element is enclosed to the thermosensitive element. SOLUTION: In the electric kettle, a heating container 2 to which a heater 3 having a heating wire 26 wound around a plurality of grooves 25 provided on inner and outer peripheries of a core 24 made of an insulating material and a charger 18 for the heater 3 are attached; an outer body 1 for holding the heating container 2; the metal casing 8 in which a thermosensitive element 9 is enclosed in a part where steam generated from the heating container 2 hits; and energizing means 12 for electrically connecting any part of the metal casing 8 and heating container 2 are provided for discharging the high-voltage charge such as static electricity applied on the metal casing 8 to the heater 3 or charger 18 via the energizing means 12 and heating container 2 to prevent destruction of a control circuit by avoiding discharge from the metal casing 8 to the thermosensitive element 9, without a major change to a structure and maintaining a conventional performance of the electric kettle.
