DEFORMABLE PROP FOR VEHICLE BONNET

The invention relates to a device for holding up a bonnet (4) of a motorised vehicle. This device consists of a metal section piece that acts as a prop (6). It is fixed to its mount (10) via a mounting plate (8) so as to form a pivot connection and support the bonnet (4) in the open position via a hook (22). The central part (12, 18, 20) has several elbows (14, 16). The elbows (14, 16) are the site of deformations that are caused by any possible forced closure of the bonnet (4). The prop (6) assembly on the one hand holds the bonnet (4) open firmly but can also deform when a mechanical stress exceeds a predefined level. Because of the latter feature, the prop (6) acts as a deliberate mechanical weak link while at the same time guaranteeing the required level of safety.
