PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system capable of surely sending infrared signals to lighting fixtures as control objects. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a controller 1 equipped with a power line communication part 12, a plurality of lighting fixtures 2 each equipped with a power line communication part 22 sending and receiving signals to and from the power line communication part 12, a control part 21 controlling a lighting state of a lighting load 24 by controlling an output of a lighting circuit part 23 in accordance with control signals received at the power line communication part 22, a visible light receiving part 25 receiving visible light, and an infrared receiving part 26 receiving infrared signals, and a remote-control transmitter 3 equipped with a visible light emitting part 32 irradiating visible light and an infrared sending part 33 for sending infrared signals including prescribed setting data and with an irradiation range more widely set than the visible light irradiated from the visible light emitting part 32. The control part 21, when the visible light receiving part 25 receives the visible light for a given time period irradiated from the visible light emitting part 32 during receiving of the infrared signals, makes effective the above data included in the infrared signals received.
