Provided are a monitoring camera apparatus for detecting step out and a control method thereof. A monitoring camera apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a camera unit photographing a monitoring area according to a monitoring mode; a fan motor driving such that the camera unit can rotate horizontally, and a tilt motor driving such that the camera unit can rotate vertically; a fan rotation gear horizontally rotating the camera unit by the driving of the fan motor, and a tilt rotation gear vertically rotating the camera unit by the driving of the tilt motor; a plurality of fan sensor members adhered to the fan rotation gear to interwork, and a plurality of tilt sensor members adhered to the tilt rotation gear to interwork; a fan sensor for sensing the fan sensor member passing the monitoring area according to the rotation of the fan rotation gear, and a tilt sensor for sensing the tilt sensor member passing the monitoring area according to the rotation of the tilt rotation gear; and a control unit which receives sensing information of the fan sensor member or the tilt sensor member from the fan sensor or the tilt sensor to compute real location information, and performs comparison with pre-stored reference location information to determine the step out of the fan motor or the tilt motor. |
