Provided is a unit for cooling and heat radiating a light emitting diode. The unit for cooling and heat radiating a light emitting diode of the present invention, which has a three dimensional shape making it suitable for using as a liquid crystal device BLU or a light source of a lighting device, etc., comprises: an openable metal substrate case made of aluminum, aluminum alloy, magnesium or magnesium alloy, where the shape of the cross section adopts a square, rectangle, multisided and dome shape, etc., to have an opening in at least one side surface thereof; or a closable metal substrate pipe which includes a cover in the opening of the metal substrate case, wherein the metal substrate case or the metal substrate pipe has an electric insulating layer based on an oxidation coating caused by the anodizing; and a certain electric pattern circuit in the roof surface thereof to mount the light emitting diode such as a semiconductor laser, etc. Furthermore, the closable metal substrate pipe has a thermal medium sealed inside to be used; at least one of a heat radiating pin, a heat pipe and a cooling pipe installed in the cover; and a valve or a nozzle, as needed, so that the thermal medium can to be easily injected into the metal substrate pipe. |
