<p>A tinted float glass includes a base glass portion comprising: SiO2 (68 -75 wt%), Al2O3 (0 -3 wt%), Na2O (11 -15 wt%), K2O (0 -3wt%), CaO (6 -11 wt%), MgO (2 -6 wt%) and a colourant portion comprising iron, cobalt and selenium in the following ranges: Fe2O3 (0.30 -0.40 wt%), Co3O4 (46 -60 ppm), Se (1-5 ppm). The tinted float glass is blue-grey in transmitted colour, and is suitable for architectural, automotive, and other applications. A particularly preferred embodiment of the glass has a colourant portion comprising 0.31-0.33% Fe2O3, 51-55 ppm Co3O4 and 2-4 ppm selenium, together with a light transmission (Ill D65) of 59 to 62%, a dominant wavelength of 482 nm, a colour purity of 7 to 8%, and a performance of 3 to 7%; all in a sample 6.0 mm thick. The glass may be coated with a low emissivity coating.</p> |
