PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for a coating apparatus, which does not require the laying of a rail, and which can easily secure a coating area and can ensure excellent finishing in lap coating portions.SOLUTION: A coating apparatus 20 includes: a splay gun 1; a reciprocation device 3 of the spray gun 1; and a slide drive device 12 which relatively shifts one of a first movable frame 4 to which the reciprocation device 3 is connected and a second movable frame 5 slidably connected to the first movable frame 4 with respect to the other. The movable frames 4 and 5 are respectively provided with a plurality of leg parts 63 and 73 with suction parts which are driven so that projection dimensions can be varied. The coating apparatus 20 performs coating by alternately repeating: advancing operation which is effected by the ON-OFF switching of suction force of suction pads 8 and 9 at the tips of the leg parts 63 and 73 linked to the driving of the leg parts 63 and 73 with the suction parts and by the shifting by the slide drive device 12; and coating operation by the spray gun 1. |
