PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a first operation mode for lighting a first light emitting element and a second light emitting element adjacent to each other together, and a second operation mode for lighting the first light emitting element and the second light emitting element separately, without the need of highly accurate timing control of a signal.SOLUTION: A light emitting element chip 51 includes: a plurality of transfer thyristors T which come into an ON-state in order; a plurality of light emitting thyristors L in which a pair of the light emitting thyristors L adjacent to each other is connected to each transfer thyristor T pair by pair; a first lighting control circuit 61 which supplies a lighting control signal &phgr;A1 supplying electric power to the even-numbered light emitting thyristors L; and a second lighting control circuit 62 which supplies a lighting control signal &phgr;A2 supplying electric power to the odd-numbered light emitting thyristors L. The first lighting control circuit 61 and the second lighting control circuit 62 supply common lighting control signals &phgr;A1 and &phgr;A2 in a low resolution mode, and supply lighting control signals &phgr;A1 and &phgr;A2 supplying electric power at different timing in a high resolution mode. |
