PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform excellent resistance spot welding in the vicinity of a spot welding part and a part making partially strong contact therewith, while adequately reducing a reactive current, without almost changing welding conditions of resistance spot welding, even under circumstances where a spot welding part and a strongly contacting part exist between steel sheets. SOLUTION: In the vicinity of a joint part 3 for joining steel sheets 1, 2 and having a current-carrying property, in the steel sheets 1, 2 which are overlapped and arranged, a welding electrodes 4 and a back electrode 5 arranged facing each other with the overlapped and arranged steel sheets 1, 2 sandwiched therebetween are abutted, and the steel sheets 1, 2 are resistance-welded. The steel sheets 1, 2, to which the welding electrode 4 and the back electrode 5 are respectively abutted, includes slits 1a, 2a formed to separate at least a part of a region 25 connecting the joint part 3 and a part to which the welding electrode 4 or the back electrode 5 is abutted.
