PURPOSE:To provide a printer capable of converting into information of j line x k row a character pattern information composed of a dot matrix of m line x n row by providing an exclusive OR means for detecting change from black to white and vice versa and a register for identifying and storing outputs therefrom by counting thereof. CONSTITUTION:This printer is equipped with a matrix size conversion section 2 comprising an exclusive OR means 8 for detecting change from white to black and vice varsa by comparing each line and/or each row (hereafter expressed by each line/each row) of a character pattern information read out from a character recorder 1 with the preceding line/the row thereof, counters 11 and 12 for calculating outputs thereof, registers 12 and 13 for storing outputs of the counters by identifying them for each line/each row, line/row comparator 14 and 15 which outputs a conversion information indicating line/row having the minimum value selected by comparing the contents of the registers for each block once the contents of the counters are divided into blocks equivalent to a difference between m line and j line and/or n row and k row. |
