The present invention relates to precursors for lithium complex transition metal oxides and, more specifically, to transition metal precursors which are precursors used in the manufacture of lithium transition metal oxides and comprise a composite transition metal compound represented by a chemical formula 1. NiaMbMn1-(a+b)(OH1-x)2 (1) In the chemical formula 1, M is at least on selected from the group consisting of Ti, Co, Al, Cu, Fe, Mg, B, Cr, Zr, Zn and group 2 transition metals. And a, b and c satisfy 0.2<=a<=0.25, 0<=b<=0.1 and 0<=x<=0.5. The transition metal precursor of the present invention exhibits high process efficiency by simplifying an oxidation process or a reduction process for oxidation number changing when lithium complex transition metal oxides are manufactured by using the transition metal precursors since the oxidation number of the transition metal of the transition metal precursor is close to the oxidation number of the transition metal of lithium complex transition metal oxides, is able to synthesize the precursors of high density or optimize particle shapes by controlling particle size or particle distribution, exhibits excellent quick charge properties and life properties as a positive electrode active material and has high charge and discharge efficiency. |
