PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique advantageous in providing a high speed and high accuracy AD converter.SOLUTION: The AD converter comprises: a generation circuit 101 that has a plurality of capacitors with binary-weighted capacitance values and a switch circuit for selecting one or more from the plurality of capacitors, and generates a comparison signal depending on a combined capacitance value of the one or more selected capacitors; a comparison circuit CMP for comparing an analog value with the value of the comparison signal; and a control circuit 102 for executing a first comparison operation of narrowing down a range including the analog value by making a binary search as changing the combined capacitance value on the basis of a comparison result from the comparison circuit to change the value of the comparison signal, and a second comparison operation of narrowing down the range including the analog value on the basis of a comparison result from the comparison circuit while changing the comparison signal at a constant rate of change. |
