A security system (1) for electronic account access comprising a user account managed by a service provider wherein access to said user account over a network is provided by a host (2) such that a plurality of communications devices (4) can instruct an interaction with said user account over the network by supplying a first set of account identification data to said host (2), characterised in that the user account has an active status in which new interactions with the user account by the communication devices (4) are permitted and an inactive status wherein new interactions are inhibited by the host (2), the system (1) further comprising a data store having the first sets of account identification data stored thereon and an identifier for each of the said user accounts such that transmission of said identifier by a user communication device (4) can switch the associated user account at the host (2) between the active and inactive states. |
