A donor base station (donor eNB) initiates a handover of a mobile relay node associated with the base station. The base station obtains information that identifies at least one further base station which is capable of acting as a donor base station to the mobile relay node. When the mobile relay node requires handover, only a target base station which can provide the required donor services is selected. The mobile relay node may obtain the information and only measure and report on donor base stations. In this way irrelevant time and resources are not wasted on measuring, reporting and selecting a non-donor base station incapable of supporting a mobile relay node. The information may comprise a list of allowed donor base stations which may be used to filter measurement reports. Alternatively or additionally, geographical location of the mobile relay node or known route information may be used to select a donor base station. A proximity indication function may be used to instruct the mobile relay to search for cells having a closed subscriber group (CSG) of which the mobile relay is a member. Historical information may also be used.
|
