PURPOSE: A terminal for upgrading software of home appliances and a method thereof are provided to conveniently perform a software upgrade process of the home appliances and prevent an error of the software upgrade process, thereby upgrading software of the home appliances without a response of a controlling unit of the corresponding home appliances. CONSTITUTION: A terminal operating unit(110) operates a terminal. A terminal controlling unit(130) recognizes a command inputted from the terminal operating unit. The terminal controlling unit controls a software upgrade of home appliances. A state displaying unit(100) displays a software upgrade state. A software storing unit(140) stores software for a plurality of the home appliances. The software storing unit is connected to the terminal controlling unit.
