FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel cyclic carbodiimide compound of formula (i):(where X is any of divalent groups of formulae (i-1)-(i-3), or a tetravalent group of formula (i-4), when X is divalent, q equals 0, and when X is tetravalent, q equals 1, and each of Ar-Arindependently denotes an aromatic group and can be substituted with an alkyl group containing 1-6 carbon atoms, or a phenyl group(i-1), where n is an integer from 1 to 6,(i-2), where each of m and n is independently an integer from 0 to 3,(i-3), where each of Rand Ris an alkyl group containing 1-6 carbon atoms, or a phenyl group, (i-4), which is useful as a polymer chain terminating agent, specifically an acid group capturing agent.
