PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aqueous dispersion of fluorine-containing polymer and a purified aqueous dispersion of fluorine-containing polymer capable of efficiently eliminating iron ion from the aqueous dispersion of fluorine-containing polymer.SOLUTION: A method for producing an aqueous dispersion of fluorine-containing polymer includes the steps of: (A) preparing, by emulsion polymerization, the aqueous dispersion of fluorine-containing polymer which contains fluorine-containing polymer having at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of -SOY and -COOR, wherein Y represents a halogen atom and R represents an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, (B) heating the aqueous dispersion of fluorine-containing polymer to 50°C and more, and (C) bringing the aqueous dispersion of fluorine-containing polymer and a cation exchange type ion exchange resin into contact with each other to obtain a purified aqueous dispersion of fluorine-containing polymer after the step (B). The pH of the aqueous dispersion of fluorine-containing polymer is maintained not more than 7 after completion of the polymerization reaction in the step (A) to completion of the step (C). |
