Natural hair dye powder for mixing with water prior to hair application

Powder product for dyeing keratin fibres, especially human hair, based on naturally occurring dyes - contains 1 - 20 wt.% oil or liquid wax, or a liquid derivative of these compounds. Also claimed are (i) the use of the above oils, liquid waxes or liquid derivatives thereof for the preparation of the above dyes, and (ii) a method for dyeing keratin fibres, especially human hair, by mixing the dye powder with water, applying it to hair and then rinsing it out after an application time of 20 - 60 minutes. Preferably the oil or wax is olive oil, wheatgerm oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil, palm seed oil or jojoba oil, preferably obtained from seeds, or the oil or wax may be fatty acids or fatty alcohols. Preferably the dye contains 2 - 10 wt.% oil, liquid wax or liquid derivative thereof, in addition to 1 - 3 wt.% phospholipid (preferably a cephalin or optionally partially hydrolysed lecithin) as natural emulsifier, 0.5 - 5 (1 - 3) wt.% organic acid chosen from lactic acid, tartaric acid, malonic acid, citric acid, ascorbic acid or gluconic acid, 0.5 - 10 (2 - 5) wt.% natural wax, and a natural thickener.
