PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection method and a compensation method for detecting/compensating a wavefront deviation between reproduction light capable of improving reproduction quantity and oscillator light.SOLUTION: An optical information recording/reproducing apparatus for recording/reproducing information in an optical recording medium by using light includes: an oscillator light generation part for generating oscillator light which is superposed to reproduction light from the optical recording medium and interferes with the reproduction light; an oscillator light conversion part for adding a predetermined phase difference between the oscillator light and the reproduction light; a light detection part for detecting interference light obtained by superposing the oscillator light to the reproduction light; a wavefront deviation detection part for detecting a wavefront deviation quantity between the oscillator light and the reproduction light from an output of the light detection part; and a compensation quantity calculation part for calculating a wavefront compensation quantity from the wavefront deviation quantity. Problems can be solved by an optical information device for controlling a phase difference to be added in the oscillator light conversion part on the basis of the wavefront compensation quantity.
