PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device which can read a moving and a stationary document with good quality by using a single reading unit even when a configuration having a straight transport path against a flat head contact glass for stationary documents is involved.SOLUTION: The image reading device comprises: a flat bed contact glass 6 on which a stationary document is placed, the flat contact glass 6 being formed with a transparent material; a moving document use contact glass 7 which a moving document passes through, the moving document use contact glass 7 being formed with a transparent material; a reading unit 10 which reads a stationary document placed on the flat bed contact glass 6 and a moving document passing through the moving document use contact glass 7; and a scanning device which causes the reading unit 10 to scan. In the image reading device where the flat bed contact glass 6 and the moving document use contact glass 7 are not in the same plane, the reading unit 10 is driven by the scanning device so as to move along the respective reading surfaces of the flat bed contact glass 6 and the moving document use contact glass 7. |
