PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the stability of gradation and desilverization property without increasing fog or deteriorating sensitivity and graininess by incorporating a specified silver halide emulsion into a photosensitive layer and developing it with a specified color developing soln. SOLUTION: After a silver halide color photographic sensitive material contg. a silver halide emulsion (a) in a photosensitive layer is exposed, is developed with a color developing soln. for 30-120 sec color development time. In the silver halide emulsion, >=50% of the total projection area of silver halide particles consist of flat platelike silver halide particles having an aspect ration of >=2 and the particles has a part whose the silver iodide content is max. in the region of <=0.80 L for the distance L from the center of the particle to the outer surface. The color developing soln. A contains 0.025-0.100 mol/l color developing main agent, 6.0×10<-7> -7.0×10<-5> mol/l iodide ions, 8.0×10<-3> -3.0×10<-2> mol/l bromide ions and 0.01-50.0 g/l polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer.
