<p>An online chemical analysis instrument comprises a chemical analyser and a reagent delivery means for delivering a volume of reagent (15) into a measurement cell (1). The analyser comprises a longitudinal chamber (18) incorporating a first inlet port to introduce sample fluid (12), a second inlet port to allow injection of fluid reagent (15), and an outlet port to allow expulsion of sample/reagent mixtures. The analyser also comprises a detector (2) located in or adjacent to the chamber (18) between the inlets and said outlet. The analyser also comprises a piston (19) movable in the chamber (18) carrying a series of seals (20,21,22) such that movement of the piston (19) sequentially introduces sample fluid (12), injects fluid reagent (15), and expels sample/reagent mixtures. The analyser therefore comprises a single mechanism that introduces a sample (12), adds reagent (15), and cleans and flushes a measurement cell (1).</p> |
