PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for multi-beam imaging, capable of effecting picture describing process even under a condition that one part of LDs are broken. SOLUTION: The breakage of respective LDs is detected at first. Next, a row including a maximum number of light-emitting devices (partial LD rows consisting of 1-4ch) out of a plurality of partial LD rows (three partial LD rows of 1-4ch, 6 and 7ch, and 9 and 10ch) produced by being devided by broken LDs, is selected as an effective row of LDs. Then, the image is conducted by using the effective row of LDs (1-4ch).
