PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode ray tube and its production method allowing an electron gun to be mounted on a neck portion at a low temperature for a short time, while suppressing the temperature rise of a cathode as much as possible. SOLUTION: The method of producing the cathode-ray tube comprises sealing a stem base glass, to which the electron gun is mounted, to a tubular neck glass and mounting the electron gun on the neck portion A glass characterized by a wavelength 1,050 nm infrared transmissivity of 85% or lover in the direction of the wall thickness is used as a glass member for at least one of the heck glass or the stem base glass, and the neck glass and the stem base glass are sealed to each other using a sealer.
