A device for detecting the vehicle speed using a stereo camera according to the present invention comprises a first camera device for photographing a first area; a second camera device for photographing a second area including the first area; and a control device for detecting a vehicle based on the photographing information from the first camera device, generating three-dimensional image information for the vehicle by combining the image information for the same area of the photographing information from the first camera device and the second camera device when the vehicle is detected, selecting any one of the feature points of the vehicle in the three-dimensional image information for the vehicle, detecting the height of the selected feature point and detecting the speed of the vehicle based on the height, the moving distance of the feature point and the time required.
