A mobile communication terminal and an operation method thereof are provided to temporarily stop a function of confirming whether a mounted smart card is detached, while communication connection is intercepted, thereby reducing current consumption. A connector(20) is mounted with a smart card. A communication unit(30) transceives a signal according to information on the smart card by being connected to a mobile communication network. If communication connection is intercepted while the smart card is mounted on the connector, a controller(10) blocks outputting of a control signal for confirming whether the smart card is detached. The control signal is a polling signal for confirming whether a signal is transmitted for the smart card. An output unit(60) outputs data and a memory(40) stores data.
