The present invention relates to a catalyst composition for preparing polyesters and a method for preparing polyesters using the same, and more specifically, to a catalyst composition including composite metal oxides, zinc compounds, and phosphorus compounds and a method for preparing polyesters using the same. The catalyst composition of the present invention allows the polymerization of polyester through the use of a small amount of titanium compound catalysts, is useful as an environment-friendly next generation catalyst, and can be usefully applied to commercial production due to reduced reaction time, high inherent viscosity, and rapid solid polymerization crystallization speed.
