<p>For the detection and optional replacement of spot pixels, an imaging system is disclosed. Imaging system (1) comprising an image input for receiving a pixel matrix IC, (6), whereby the pixels (7, 8) of the pixel matrix IC, (6) are assigned to at least one pixel group R,B,G, whereby one of the at least one pixel group R,G,B is defined as a selected pixel group; a spot processing module (10) for detecting spot pixels (8) in the selected pixel group. The spot processing module (10) comprises an aperture selecting unit (18) for selecting an aperture A of the pixel matrix IC, (6) with pixels (7, 8) of the selected pixel group B, whereby the aperture A comprises a test pixel (20) in a central position and neighbour pixels (21) to the test pixel; a filter unit (22) for applying a set of filter operations with at least two directional filter operations on the aperture A, whereby the directional filter operations evaluate the gradient in two different directions between the test pixel (20) and the neighbour pixels (21) as statistic values Pi; a detection unit (23) for detecting the minimum of the at least two statistic values Pi as a minimum value p; and a rating unit (24) for rating the test pixel (20) as a spot pixel (8) in case the minimum value p of the at least two statistic values Pi is higher than a threshold value T.</p> |
