The purpose of the present invention is to develop a method for producing trans-3-hydroxy-L-proline in an economically advantageous manner and with high efficiency. The present invention provides a method for producing trans-3-hydroxy-L-proline. The production method comprises: an arginase-acting step of allowing a protein having an arginase activity, a host organism capable of producing the protein, a treatment product of the host organism and/or a culture solution produced by culturing the host organism and containing the protein to act on (2S,3S)-3-hydroxyarginine; and an ornithine cyclodeaminase-acting step of allowing a protein having an ornithine cyclodeaminase activity, a host organism capable of producing the protein, a treatment product of the host organism and/or a culture solution produced by culturing the host organism and containing the protein to act on (2S,3S)-3-hydroxyornithine that is produced in the arginase-acting step. |
