The brake caliper (1) has a caliper portion (2) with stiffening element (3) embedded in a form-fitting. The stiffening element is embedded into brake caliper portion and connected along portion of boundary surface with the material-brake caliper portion. The material of the brake caliper portion is made up of iron or non-ferrous metal alloy and aluminum alloy. The material of the stiffening element is made up of fiber reinforced iron or non-ferrous metal alloy, aluminum base alloy or silicon carbide particle. An independent claim is included for method for manufacturing brake caliper.
