摘要 The invention relates to laboratory equipment for microbiology, biochemistry, biology etc. Main purpose of this technique is to increase the upper limit of high speed centrifugation avoiding deformation of the tubes, as well as to increase the efficiency when rotor is used as a vortexer. Effective mixing is extremely important in various microbiology applications such as resuspension, protein extraction etc. The offered rotor of the centrifuge (Fig.1) consists of two parts: upper inward bent part (1) and lower radial flat part with specially shaped holes (2). Both parts are mounted on the motor (3) standing on a bushing (4) and fixed by a nut (5). Test tubes (6) are inserted inside the holes in the rotor. The lower disc part (2) has a number of specially shaped holes radially spreaded along the edge of a disc. These holes correspond to the holes in the upper part (1). When the rotor is running, test tubes (6) are pushed away from the center of a rotor by centrifugal force. Lower disc part (2) provides a support for the tubes (6) and avoids them from bending even further from the center and therefore prevents them from crushing. When the rotor is vortexing the tubes by means of sequential short movements clock-wise and counter clock-wise, the tubes (6) are hitting the edges of the holes of the lower disc (2) acquiring additional energy of mixing. The size of a hole in the lower disc (2) is larger then the size of gap between the tube and hole in the upper part of rotor. Main advantage of this design of a rotor is much higher centrifugal force without a risk of crushing the tube while significantly greater is efficiency of vortexing the tubes.
