PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition well balancedly improved in steering stability, riding comfort and elongation at break, and capable of giving good processability and low fuel consumption, and to provide a pneumatic tire fabricated by using the rubber composition.SOLUTION: A rubber composition is fabricated by using a master batch containing a modified natural rubber having a phosphorus content of ≤200 ppm, and a microfibrillated plant fiber. The rubber composition preferably has a ratio (E*a/E*b) of a complex elastic modulus E*a in the extrusion direction measured at a temperature of 70°C and a dynamic strain of 2% to a complex elastic modulus E*b in the direction orthogonal to the extrusion direction of 1.05 to 6.00, and the E*a of 7 to 100 MPa. |
