<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a toner by a seed polymerization method by allowing mother articles to absorb polymerizable monomers to polymerize the monomers in the mother particles so that a toner having little variance of the coating rate among the toner particles and little byproduct of fine powder and capable of forming preferable images can be efficiently obtained, and to provide the toner. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a toner includes a process of polymerizing polymerizable monomers in the presence of mother particles to increase the volume of the mother particles and/or to modify the surfaces of the mother particles. A polymerization initiator having a hydrophilic site, a hydrophobic site and a reactive site between these in one molecule is used in the method. The circularity of the toner particles ranges from 0.92 to 1.0. The toner particles are obtained by polymerizing monomers with a polymerization initiator having a hydrophilic site, a hydrophobic site and a reactive site between these in one molecule in the presence of mother particles containing a binder resin so as to increase the volume of the mother particles and/or modify the surfaces of the mother particles.</p> |
