PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy resin that especially excels in cured product characteristics of heat resistance, heat degradation resistance and moisture absorption resistance or the like, in which handleability is excellent, and that is especially useful to a field of an optical member; an epoxy resin composition; and a cured product.SOLUTION: An epoxy resin is obtained by making a phenol compound shown by formula (4) react with epihalohydrin, an epoxy resin composition includes the epoxy resin and a curing agent, and a cured product comprises curing the epoxy resin composition.
