This optical transmission apparatus is provided with: a wavelength selection switch having a plurality of output ports; an optical intensity monitoring device, which receives optical signals outputted from each of the output ports of the wavelength selection switch, and which monitors optical intensities of the optical signals; and a control unit that controls, on the basis of the optical intensities monitored by means of the optical intensity monitoring device, the optical intensities of the optical signals outputted from the output ports of the wavelength selection switch.
