A system is provided for tracking articles lost in transit. There is provided an encodable tag; a computer application is used to install the article's e-mail address and password or other ID as preconditions to activate the application. The e-mail and ID are stored in the computer database and the computer establishes a unique account. A finder of the article uses his/her mobile device browser and NFC receptive program to read the tag. The data stored on the tag causes the mobile device to open a browser and communicate via the internet to the originating computer. The originating computer receives the communication from the finder's mobile device and thereby identifies via locating means, such as GPS, the location of the article. The computer stores the location and prompts the finder to provide additional information about the article and its location. The computer there upon transmits this information to the article's owner so the article may be recovered but maintaining the privacy of the article's owner by not giving the owner's contact information to the finder. |
