PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning system and a positioning method that achieve positioning even in a place of the zenith with bad observation.SOLUTION: There is provided a positioning system (1) including a server (4) and a portable terminal (2) which can be connected to the server through a network. The server includes a communication part (41) communicating with the portable terminal, and a server processing part (43) which transmits a request to send a positioning result to the portable terminal when a server initiative positioning request is transmitted to the portable terminal and a request for change to terminal initiative positioning is received from the portable terminal. The portable terminal includes a communication part (21) which communicates with the server, terminal positioning parts (23, 272) which performs a plurality of kinds of positioning processing, a selection part (273) which selects a positioning result with the minimum error among a plurality of positioning results, and a terminal processing part (271) which transmits the selected positioning result to the server when the request to send is received from the server. |
