PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus or an image forming method by which the storage amount of toner in a waste toner container can be detected with high accuracy.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit that has a photoconductor drum; a drum cleaner; a waste toner container 108; screws 107a and 107b that are driven to be rotated by a motor 104; a torque limiter 105 that idles the motor when the motor cannot drive and rotate the screws due to toner in the waste toner container; and determination means for determining the storage amount of the toner in the waste toner container according to a rotation speed at which the motor idles that is detected by switching the rotation speed of the motor with a plurality of rotation speeds. |
